Who Knew Angry Birds Could be so Addictive?

Possibly the most popular game in recent memory, Angry Birds takes a rather simple concept and quite literally expands on it to the point where chucking birds at pigs is actually fun. As was stated earlier, the idea of the game is pretty simple. You, as the angry birds, are tasked with getting your eggs back from the gluttonous pigs. It won't be simple, however, as the pigs have decided to hide themselves in rather elaborate structures that act as shields between you and them. The birds have a way around this, however. Acting as living projectiles, you will be tasked with chucking your willing army of birds at the pig's structures in order to break them, and in the process, kill the pigs that have taken your eggs.
Now that you know that, it may be in your best interest to know that Angry Birds follows that formula pretty closely. The game basically has one way to “control” it if you will, that being the slingshot that you will be using to chuck the birds at the pigs. The slingshot can be aimed in a multitude of angles, with each angle having a profound effect on the way that the birds will ultimately hit the structures that the pigs currently reside in. After you've successfully completed each level, you will be scored and then given a rating based on how well you've done. Getting a perfect rating in every level can be a daunting task indeed, and in many ways adds an absolute ton of replayability to an already absurdly long game.
That's okay, though, because the levels in which you'll be playing are an absolute blast to navigate through. You would think after the scores of levels that the developers have created the game itself would get old. That's not the case, however, as Angry Birds has a way of constantly beckoning you back to the tried and true formula that it possesses. Each and every level is perfectly designed to give players just enough challenge to get through it, yet not enough challenge to force you away out of frustration. From sprawling mountains with pigs hiding in the crevices to the king pig hiding in the very depths of a stone fortress, Angry Birds challenges players it every phase of the genre.
Graphically speaking, Angry Birds is a colorful, cartoony romp that entices players with a rather basic yet doable color scheme that makes the game very easy on the eyes. From sprawling mountains to blue water, Angry Birds has the perfect color scheme for every situation that the game presents to players. While some levels do tend to look recycled at points, the graphics themselves do look great and fully compliment what the developers were trying to hit when designing the game.
The same can't be said about the musical track, however. Quite simply, there is none. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. While the lack of music in each level may lend itself to a rather quite experience, the game itself is full of different sounds that really lend themselves to the zany experience that the developers were trying to create. With the amount of time that you may be spending in a level, the lack of an audible track may have been what was best for the game, and in a way helps to stave off some of the over-tiredness that may have come from listening to the same track for who knows how long it would take you to get through every level in each area.
Angry Birds has been sitting on top of the charts for a reason. Thanks to a rather ingenious concept coupled with fun gameplay, Angry Birds throws aside sanity for a bit in an attempt to entice players with a world where things are, you know, fun. While it may get frustrating at times to get that perfect rating in a level, the game itself is a rare treat of addictiveness that few other games can match. For .99 cents on iOS and the amazing price of free on Android, you could do a lot worse.
